WONDERBREED is a Brooklyn-based rock trio that was formed in the summer of 2012 by singer/guitarist Chando Yun, bassist Joe Mastracchio, and drummer Mark Sev. Their mutual rapport instantly translated into a sound that effortlessly leaps from punk to psychedelic, from sludge to cartoon funk, from the man who gave you life to the man who serves you rice. After a number of performances in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Connecticut, the trio was ready to enter the studio, and by April 2013 they were proud to present their eponymous debut EP.
With an intensity rooted in the creative tradition of 80’s underground and 90’s alternative, WONDERBREED forges forth with a level of sonic power increasingly rare in today’s indie scene. From the soaring punk melodies of “You and I,” to the tar-thick sludge of “Hermit Kingdom,” to the psychedelic insanity of “Who Is Your Dad,” it’s clear that WONDERBREED is both an undaunted first impression, as well as a glimpse of things to come from a band devoted to creativity, energy, and volume.

I don’t see Wonderbreed wavering from the brash path they’ve started on…it’s shaggy, like you would literally expect of a mountain recluse’s beard, not some hipster in a Brooklyn coffee shop.

The potential of this triple threat is on display right from track one…a distinctive sound resurrected from an era filled with dirty, unfiltered rock.

With Kyuss vibes [and] heavy offbeat drums...this band is pretty hard to beat.
